Luisa's is famous for its calzones. In 1983, Luisa's introduced calzones to the great Manchester market and has been the leader and innovator of this traditional Italian dish ever since. Calzone is the Italian word for 'britches' (or pants). The peasant Italians in an effort to eliminate the wasting of food, while providing delicious meals for their families, began to put leftovers inside bread dough and baking it to golden brown. Italian children applied the name for food inside pants. It became a staple in the Italian household. Luisa's is proud to bring this Italian heritage to Manchester for you all to enjoy... except we dont use leftovers. ENJOY!
